Roles and what each one can do
Owner, Manager, Barber and Receptionist — who sees what.
Roles are per shop. The same person can be an owner in their own shop and a barber in somebody else's, and the two do not affect each other.

The Shop group in the navigation holds Services, Staff, Settings and Billing. It hides itself when nothing inside it is available — so a barber does not see the group at all, and a receptionist sees it with Billing alone.
The roles in practice
Owner. One per shop, created when the shop is created. The only role that can change the plan, the payment method or cancel the subscription. Cannot be deactivated, and cannot be changed by anyone — including a manager.
Manager. Everything the owner can do except billing changes. Edits services, invites and deactivates staff, sets hours and booking preferences. This is the role for the person who actually runs the floor.
Barber. Works the counter and the calendar. Checks customers in, works visits, books appointments, sees customers and the dashboard. No access to services, staff or settings. Counts as bookable capacity — customers can book them online.
Receptionist. The same day-to-day access as a barber, plus the billing summary so they can tell you the subscription lapsed. Not bookable — a receptionist never appears as an option on the booking page and is never counted as a free chair when slots are worked out.
"Bookable" follows the role, not the person. If somebody both answers the phone and cuts hair, make them a Barber — as a receptionist they will never be offered to a customer, and your booking page will look emptier than your shop is.
Why the dashboard is open to everyone
Every role sees revenue and visit counts. That is a deliberate choice: the number on the screen is the shop's, and a team that can see it tends to work with it.
The per-barber breakdown is a Barbershop feature, so on Studio that table simply does not appear.
Two things nobody can do
- Change the owner. Ownership does not transfer inside the app.
- Change their own role or deactivate themselves. It takes another owner or manager, which is what stops somebody promoting themselves and what stops the last manager locking the shop.
Changing somebody's role
Shop → Staff, on the member. It takes effect immediately, including what they see in the navigation the next time they load a page.
Moving somebody to Receptionist takes them out of bookable capacity straight away — check the calendar for appointments already assigned to them.
