How available slots work
Why a time is offered to a customer — or is not.
Your booking page never offers a time you cannot serve. This is how it decides, and therefore what to change when it is offering too few times.
The steps
1. Is the shop open? A closed weekday has no slots at all. Otherwise the day runs from that weekday's opening time to its closing time.
2. How long is the visit? The durations of the chosen services, added together. Two services of 30 and 20 minutes need a continuous 50 minutes. A booking that would run past closing is not offered.
3. Who could do it? Every active member of the shop except receptionists. Owners, managers and barbers are all bookable capacity — if you cut hair, you are a chair.
4. Which of them can do these services? On Barbershop, a barber with services assigned can only take those services. A barber with no services assigned can do everything. See Barber availability and services.
5. Which of them are working then? A barber on a custom weekly schedule is available only inside their own intervals, trimmed to shop hours. A barber without a custom schedule follows shop hours.
6. Is anyone already busy? Scheduled visits block the barber they are assigned to. A visit with no barber assigned blocks somebody — so it consumes one chair's worth of capacity from the pool.
A time survives to the customer only if, after all of that, a suitable barber is free for the whole duration. Times already past are dropped.
Slots sit on a 30-minute grid, and the window closes 60 days ahead.
When a customer picks a specific barber
Two conditions, not one: that barber must be free, and enough other barbers must still be free to absorb the unassigned bookings competing for the same time. Otherwise picking a favourite could quietly strand a booking that had not been assigned to anyone yet.
Why your page shows no times
Work down this list — the first two account for most cases:
- The day is closed in Settings → Weekly hours.
- The visit does not fit. Long services against short opening hours leave nowhere to start.
- No bookable staff. Everyone active is a receptionist, or on Barbershop the team was deactivated after a downgrade.
- Service assignments are too tight. Every barber has an explicit list and none of them covers all the chosen services together. A customer booking a cut and a shave needs one barber who does both.
- Custom schedules with no intervals that day. A barber on a custom schedule with no rows for Tuesday is off on Tuesday.
- The calendar is genuinely full.
The fastest diagnosis is to open your own booking page and try the exact combination the customer described. It is the same engine; if it shows nothing for you, it showed nothing for them.
Why it is deliberately cautious
The page is judged by whether the customer who shows up can actually be served. A missed slot costs one booking. An overbooked slot costs a customer standing in your shop being told to wait.
When you want to override that judgement, book it yourself from New appointment — the internal form applies a looser check, because you are there to make the call.
